Since illegal immigration (esp. from Mexico) is such a hot topic lately, here's the answer to question 9. Many of you have great discussions on your own blogs, so I'm keeping this short.
9. How much money was awarded to Mexico by the U.S. after the treaty was signed at Guadalupe-Hidalgo, February 2, 1848, when Mexico was required to cede California and New Mexico to the United States and to recognize the Rio Grande as the southern and western boundary of Texas?
a. $15 million cash
b. $ 1 million cash
c. Nothing – why should we give them money when we won a war they started?
d. No money, just forty acres and a mule to each Mexican family who lost a loved one in the war
The answer is....
A. $15 million!
