The Dead Zone

Latest Episode of Dead Zone -- OFFICIALLY LAME

I've been watching the TV show Dead Zone off and on since it started in '02. The premise is interesting and I don't mind Anthony Michael Hall as an actor. Although, recent seasons have had increasingly annoying and blatant Liberal messages, like that Republicans are all evil and want to destroy the world. Or that all Christians are superstitious, hypocritical and misled.

The latest episode just pushed the show into officially ridiculous territory.

First, halfway through, the show suddenly became a VISA commercial. This wasn't just plain ol' product placement. The camera focused on a VISA card scanner and protagonist Johnny Smith said, "Wow, just one swipe is all it takes!" I'm not sure how this fit into the story, but I got the message that VISA makes shopping fast and easy! There was another VISA card plug later, too. Man, I've gotta get one of those VISA cards!

Second, there was a scene in which a boy (maybe 10 years old?) was giving a presentation to his school class. He planted a tree (oh, how environmentally conscious!) in honor of his own deceased father who always "gave back" to the community. Then the fictional U.S. Vice President stepped in with a heartfelt lecture to the class on global warming and how important things like planting a tree and giving to others can be in combatting global warming. "By the time you kids graduate from high school,  damage to the earth will have doubled!"

Globaloney is such an annoying religion!
